Institutions may issue ID cards to students, employees or parents for identification or authorisation. To generate ID cards, the administrator or a privileged user first creates an ID card template in the ID Cards module.

Create an ID card template

  1. Go to Menu → Academics → ID Cards.
1Opening the ID Cards module
  1. Click ID card templates.
2The ID card templates option
  1. Click New template.
3The New template button
  1. Enter the ID card details:

    1. Enter the ID card name in the ID Card Name field.

    2. Select the user type: Student, Employee or Parent.

    3. Select the resolution from the drop-down list:

      • Portrait (54 mm × 86 mm)
      • Landscape (86 mm × 54 mm)
      4ID card details form
    4. Select the Template Design – Back option to configure the back of the card:

      • Disable — the card has no back side.
      • Common for all Users — the same back design is used for every user.
      • Different for each User — the back design shows data fetched from the system for each user.
    5. Upload the Front Background Image.

    6. Upload the Back Background Image, if applicable.

Note: Images must be in .jpeg or .png format.

    7. Enter the Layout Spacing to adjust the alignment of the ID card.

    8. Select the barcode information from the drop-down list and choose its orientation: Left Vertical, Right Vertical or Horizontal.

    9. Select the User Photo Style – Front (Circle or Square) and enter the photo dimensions.

    10. Select the User Photo Style – Back (Circle or Square) and enter the photo dimensions.

      6Photo style settings
    11. Enter the ID card content in the editor area:

      • Select field codes from the field code box and paste them into the editor. The available field codes depend on the user type.
      • Position the fetched content as needed.
      • Change the font, colour or size as needed.
      • To add a custom field, click Add custom fields. To use it in the editor, enter its key prefixed with custom_ inside double curly braces.

      Example:

      SettingValue
      NameStudent Character
      Keycharacter
      Field code to use{{custom_character}}
