How does the CWA grading system work?
A worked example of how myschool calculates CWA using marks weighted by credit hours.
CWA is calculated in the same way as GPA. The only difference is that CWA uses marks instead of grades.
Example
| Code | Subject | Credit hours | Marks | Remarks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| BBA1 | Financial Accounting | 3 | 77 | Good |
| BBA2 | Business Mathematics | 3 | 85 | Very Good |
- Multiply the marks in each subject by its credit hours:
- BBA1: 3 × 77 = 231
- BBA2: 3 × 85 = 255
- Divide the sum of the weighted marks by the sum of the credit hours:
- CWA = (231 + 255) ÷ (3 + 3) = 81
Average CWA
The average CWA is the average of all CWAs across all semesters or batches.
This way, each subject contributes according to its credit hours, just as in the GPA calculation, but using actual marks instead of letter grades. See also How does the GPA grading system work?
