Successful implementation strategies for myschool

Three proven strategies for rolling out myschool in your institution: a core team, a phased rollout, and rewards.

Successful implementation of myschool, or any other ERP system, in your institution takes about 5% technical skills and 95% social skills.

Strategy 1: Build an “A Team”

Form a team of no more than 5 employees and make them your “A Team” for the myschool implementation. The team can include both teachers and non-teaching staff.

  • Link the successful implementation of myschool to the performance appraisal of the team members.
  • Always choose the best people available.
  • Give the members the authority, autonomy and time they need to complete the implementation quickly and well.

Strategy 2: One thing at a time

You don’t have to roll out every myschool feature at once. A phased approach is safer and has many advantages over a “big bang” launch of everything together. For example:

  1. Start by giving teachers and employees login access.
  2. Move on to the timetable and attendance.
  3. Start some group discussions.
  4. Invite some parents to log in and take part in the discussions.
  5. Avoid external emails and use the built-in messaging system of myschool instead.

How you sequence the rollout depends on your leadership style and strategy.

Strategy 3: Rewards and consequences

A “carrot and stick” strategy works very well for increasing usage among employees. The administrator should require daily use of the system and link rewards to successful use of the school management system.
