About the SMS module

What the SMS module does and what must be in place before your school can send and receive text messages.

1 min read Last updated: 30 September 2026

The SMS module lets administrators and privileged employees send text messages to employees, students and parents directly from myschool. You can also configure the SMS settings so that myschool sends automatic alert messages to users’ mobile phones when certain events happen, such as an absence or a published exam result.

Before you start

Your school can only send text messages once the SMS settings for your myschool account have been configured and an SMS package (for example, a myschool SMS package) has been assigned to your school.

Note: If SMS has not been set up for your school yet, contact the myschool support team.

What you can do with the SMS module

  • Send messages to selected students, parents or employees.
  • Send a message to one or more employee departments at once.
  • Send one message to all users in a single step.
  • Receive automatic alerts for events such as admissions, attendance, exams and fee payments.
