How to configure the general settings
A detailed guide to every field on the General Settings page, including institution type, date format, language, currency and logo.
General Settings is part of the Settings module, where you configure your institution’s basic details as shown below. The number of fields may vary depending on the plugins enabled for your institution.

Address
The first three fields make up the institution’s full address.
Institution type
Choose the institution type:
- K-12: institutions covering kindergarten through grade 12 (primary and secondary education).
With K-12 selected, the term “Class” is used throughout the interface for a year of education — Grade 7, Class 7 or Year 7, depending on your education system.
- Higher Education: universities and colleges offering education beyond secondary level, such as two- or three-year degrees.
With Higher Education selected, the term “Course” is used for the study of a particular subject, e.g. Zoology or Business Administration.
If no type is set, “Course” is used by default.
Student attendance type
Choose daily or subject-wise attendance from the dropdown.
Start day of the week
Set any weekday as the first day of the week, based on your academic calendar. This affects the Calendar module and the Timetable module when setting batch weekdays and creating timetables.
Date format
Controls how dates are displayed:
- DMY: Day/Month/Year
- MDY: Month/Day/Year
- YMD: Year/Month/Day
| Date format | Long format | Short format |

| YMD | 1986 March 10 | 1986/03/10, 1986-03-10 |
Note: Time is always shown in 12-hour format (HH:MM AM/PM), e.g. 11:30 AM.
