Elective groups and floating subjects
Create elective groups and subject groups, and understand floating subjects and how they relate.
Elective groups gather subjects from which students choose one or more. A floating subject lets subjects be available across different groups depending on the configuration.
Create an elective group
- Click + Elective Group.
- Enter the group name, e.g. Language Electives.
- Choose whether floating subjects are allowed in the group.
- Click Create Course Elective Group.
- If the course uses GPA, a Last date to choose elective field appears when creating subjects, setting a selection deadline.

Floating subjects add flexibility to how subjects are configured inside elective groups, based on the course and group requirements.
Example: an institution offering French, German and Spanish can configure them more flexibly with floating subjects enabled.
Create a subject group
- Click + Subject Group.
- Enter the name and choose whether score calculation is needed.
- Click Create Subject Group.
You can then add subjects and elective groups to it.
